Position Summary
The Technical Sales plays a key role in driving business growth by combining technical expertise with strong sales skills. This position is responsible for identifying customer needs, providing tailored technical solutions, and building long-term client relationships to achieve revenue targets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify, qualify, and nurture new business opportunities through proactive lead development and follow-up.
- Engage customers to understand technical requirements and recommend fit-for-purpose products/solutions.
- Prepare comprehensive, accurate proposals, quotations, and tender/submittal packages aligned to bid and budget deadlines.
- Partner cross-functionally (engineering, product, operations/support) to ensure feasibility, on-time delivery, and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain clean, current pipeline data, forecasts, activities, and account notes in the CRM.
- Track and meet/exceed assigned sales, quote-to-order, and on-time proposal KPIs; contribute to team revenue goals.
- Monitor market trends, competitive offerings, pricing, and emerging technologies to inform strategy and proposals.
- Drive continuous improvement in proposal quality, pricing accuracy, and cycle time.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; able to translate technical needs into clear, commercial proposals.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organization; able to manage multiple bids with firm deadlines.
- Clear, concise communication (written and verbal) with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency with CRM and quoting tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, CPQ); advanced Excel/Sheets skills a plus.
- Familiarity with RFP/RFQ processes, tender documentation, and basic reading of drawings/specs.
- Self-starter with a bias for action and follow-through in a fast-paced environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in tank terminal operations, inspection and maintenance services, or industrial project sales.
- Familiarity with bulk liquid storage regulations, ATEX, and HSE standards.
- Established network within the tank storage, energy, or petrochemical sectors.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or related), Business, or equivalent industry experience.
- 3+ years of technical sales experience, preferably within tank storage, terminals, oil & gas, petrochemical, or industrial equipment sectors.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and interpret CST and customer prints and documents.
- Ability to write routine reports in a professional manner.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole, fractional and decimal numbers.
REASONING ABILITY
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Handle problems involving variables in a standardized situation.
- Ability to make decisions and know when/where to make concessions.
COMPUTER SKILLS
- Advanced level of knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
