We are looking for a Maintenance Utility Tech in our Dekalb location.

Here are some details about this position:

Position Summary

This position is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining plant air compressors, chillers, fire tube boilers, clarifier, fire suppression system, RO system and HVAC related equipment.                             

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow directives of Maintenance Supervisor regarding daily tasks and long-term projects
  • Use mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical aptitude to repair a variety of utilities equipment.
  • Address underlying root cause of equipment defects to restore equipment functionality.
  • Document and track all work, labor, and parts usage through CMMS system.
  • Ensures compliance with local jurisdictional authorities as it relates to reporting and operating requirements of site utility systems.
  • Adhere to and assist Operators, Technicians, Management and Engineering in following utility equipment PM schedules and critical maintenance tasks.
  • Read, interpret, and follow basic, intermediate, and complex blueprints and schematics.
  • Perform equipment maintenance and overhauls of utility equipment sub-components.
  • Coordinates contractor support for major overhauls, repairs, and preventive maintenance tasks as applicable
  • Perform daily tests, analysis and records results on utility system logs.
  • Follow Lock Out Tag Out Procedures
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ Years of Working Knowledge with Plant Utility Systems (compressors, boilers, fire-suppression systems, havoc equipment, etc)
  • Possess or can obtain boiler operator license within 6 months.
  • Possesses class K wastewater certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Working knowledge of reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, PIDs
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting various heating and cooling systems.
  • Previous experience utilizing CMMS system to track maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to work as an individual contributor and within a team.
  • Currently employed in a plant utility maintenance related role.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 years vocational or trade school certificate in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, or other related experience preferred.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to follow written instructions, i.e., preventative maintenance schedules, procedures, in English.
  • Read blueprints, work orders and other technical specifications and documents.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Intermediate Shop math required.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram    form.
  • Handle problems involving variables in a standardized situation.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude to understand, dissect and troubleshoot complex systems utilizing deductive reasoning and rational means to solve problems.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Basic computer skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee works in a manufacturing plant environment with normal exposure to noise, dust, and hazards associated with working in a high traffic, heavy machinery, manufacturing plant. Typical work hours are Monday through Thursday from 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM (may vary by area in department). A job requires overtime. Work hours may change at the Management’s discretion with prior notice.
