Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Supports production planning and scheduling activities to ensure efficient workflow, on-time delivery, and accurate inventory management. Coordinates with production, purchasing, shipping, and customer service teams to maintain production schedules, track work orders, and provide accurate production data. Assists in ensuring materials, labor, and equipment are available to meet customer demand and operational objectives.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promotes a safe and accident-free workplace.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining daily and weekly production schedules.
  • Creates, distributes, and tracks production work orders.
  • Monitors production progress and updates schedules to reflect changing priorities.
  • Coordinates with purchasing and inventory personnel to ensure material availability.
  • Tracks inventory levels and reports shortages or excess inventory.
  • Updates ERP/MRP systems with production, inventory, and scheduling data.
  • Maintains production records, reports, and documentation.
  • Assists with cycle counts and physical inventory activities.
  • Communicates schedule changes and production priorities to supervisors and production teams.
  • Monitors work order status and follows up on delayed or incomplete jobs.
  • Generates reports related to production performance, on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, and work order completion.
  • Assists with customer order tracking and delivery status updates.
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives to improve scheduling, inventory control, and production efficiency.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
  • One to three years of experience in manufacturing, production planning, scheduling, inventory control, customer service, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and interpret production schedules, work orders, customer requirements, and operational reports.
  • Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence in a professional manner.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees, suppliers, and customers.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to calculate quantities, percentages, averages, and inventory balances.
  • Ability to analyze production and inventory data for accuracy and completeness.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to identify scheduling conflicts and production constraints.
  • Ability to solve routine production and inventory issues.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment when prioritizing orders and resolving discrepancies.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in:
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Outlook
  • ERP/MRP software systems
  • Ability to create reports, maintain spreadsheets, and analyze production data.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Walk throughout the manufacturing facility and office environment.
  • Sit and stand for extended periods.
  • Use hands and fingers to operate computers and office equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with employees and management.
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Frequently move between office and production areas.
