POSITION SUMMARY:
Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
- Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
- Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
- Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
- Repairs or replaces defective parts.
- Installs special functional and structural parts in devices, Lubricates and cleans parts.
- Starts devices to test their performance.
- Sets up and operates welding machine, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
- Initiates purchase requisition for parts and machines.
- Repairs electrical equipment.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- General knowledge of hydraulics, mechanical presses, electronics, and wiring.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read and interpret CST and customer prints and documents.
- Ability to write routine reports in a professional manner.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to calculate figures such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- The employee is frequently required to walk.
- Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand; sit.
