Description
We are looking for a Director of Accounting for our Headquarters in Kansas City, MO.

As a member of the CST Finance team, the Director of Accounting’s role is to provide financial and cost accounting support to the CST Storage Division and other CST Divisions as required.  This includes complete responsibility for the preparation of the CST Storage financial statements and CST Consolidated financial statements.  The position is classified as salary exempt reporting to the Vice President – Corporate Controller.
 
Position Responsibilities:
 
  • Prepares and issues accurate and timely financial statements for CST Storage and CST Industries, Inc.
  • Performs monthly corporate consolidation and inter-company accounting process
  • Ensures the Accounting Department meets the financial reporting and cost information needs of other departments within the Company;
  • Investigates and reports on variance to Budget;
  • Manages the general accounting, cost accounting and invoicing functions.
  • Trains and develops accounting staff including performance reviews, hiring, disciplinary actions, and terminations;
  • Assists with annual Budgets and intra-year forecasts updates as required;
  • Ensures proper and adequate internal controls are in place to protect the Company’s assets;
  • Coordinates external audit for all CST Divisions;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements:
 
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and 10+ year’s experience in corporate accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Manufacturing experience is a must
  • Professional certification (CPA, CMA, etc.) required;
  • Excellent working knowledge of GAAP and cost and inventory accounting is a must
  • Proven expertise with a variety of the business and accounting concepts, practices and procedures including standard cost systems, inter-company transactions and consolidation;
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access and ERP systems;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong customer service and teamwork skills;
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical and decision-making skills;
  • Highly self-motivated and ability to work independently;
  • Able to prioritize and be adaptable to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment;
  • Flexibility to travel up to 20% of the time.

  • Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form.  Ability to deal with situations involving several different variables.
  • Language Skills – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
