Description
We are looking for an Programmer Analyst for our headquarters in Kansas City, MO.   

As part of a service-oriented- IT organization, the programmer analyst – Web Applications role is to build the operations end of the organization’s Web sites and keep them running smoothly. This includes designing, building, and implementing new Web pages and sites; integrating sites with back end applications; migrating legacy applications to the Web; and performing day-to-day administration of the organization’s Web portfolio. Use of a variety of Web development languages is required.
 
 

Responsibilities

 
Strategy & Planning
 
  • Participate in setting organizational Web development strategy.
  • Develop and communicate Web site usage and security policies and standards to all users.
  • Work with the business in defining Web site architecture and overall site structure.
  • Establish policies and procedures for publishing Web pages and applications in conjunction with content.
  • Conduct research into current and emerging Web technologies and issues in support of Web development efforts.
  • Develop new and enhances current Web applications as identified by business owners through packaged and customized applications.
  • Maintain and enhance existing Web applications and all internal systems are integrated.
  • Perform complete testing of Web applications–unit and system, engaging users as necessary.
  • Design and implement user-driven templates, databases and interfaces for ease of use.
  • Create design prototypes, including graphic design, site navigation, and layout of content,
  • Install and configure HTTP servers and associated operating systems, and establish appropriate server directory trees.
  • Identify, recommend, and prioritize new Web features and applications in conjunction with business leaders and department managers.
  • Develop, code, install, test, debug, and document Web applications using appropriate editors.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with existing Web applications and sites.
  • Provide post-implementation production support
  • Ensure security of all Web sites and related applications.
  • Perform periodic Web site audits
  • Monitor and report on Web site traffic (analytics) and performance.
  • Implement  and manage the ongoing maintenance of SEO based on evolving business needs
Education and Experience requirements:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or software engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years as a Web Developer; preferable customer facing Web content and integration to other business systems; ERP, CRM, etc.
  • Working knowledge of a web CMS preferably Ektron CMS400.NET web content management
  • Must possess superior skills in HTML, JavaScript, C#, SQL & .Net
  • The ability to communicate and teach non-technical users a must.
  • Respond proactively to training, technical support and customer service needs in line with provided guidelines.
  • Superior knowledge of current web-design trends and techniques, a strong online portfolio displaying user-centered design, and experience with web database solutions definite assets.
  • Proficiency in a variety of Object Oriented programming languages, including Java J2EE
  • Web service experience / SOA / SOAP
  • Excellent understanding of coding methods and best practices.
  • Extensive relational database and operating systems experience with Microsoft SQL.
  • Prior experience interviewing end-users for insight on functionality, interface, problems, and/or usability issues.
  • Hands-on experience developing test cases and test plans.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Experience in manufacturing industry is a plus
  • Thorough understanding of application development methodologies.
  • Experience with computer graphic and multimedia design.
  • Comprehensive experience with structuring, developing, and implementing interactive corporate Web sites.
  • Familiar with current technology concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Experience in gathering and analyzing business requirements.
  • Project management experience.
  • Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
