Description
We are looking for an Production Supervisor in our DeKalb, IL location. This position will report to the Plant Superintendent at CST Storage and is an exempt position.

This position is responsible for supervising production in a manufacturing plant.  Primarily covering 1st shift although 2nd shift responsibility will be required as needed. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Must be able to ensure that all CST safety standards are met.
  • Promotes a safe work environment
  • Opening and closing facility when required.
  • Providing direct supervision for production members.
  • Ensuring timely performance reviews are given to all production members.
  • Establishing a comprehensive training program.
  • Ensuring standard operating procedures are established and followed.
  • Resolving production issues on the floor.
  • Inspecting work performed to ensure compliance with technical specifications.
  • Ensuring work performed is in compliance with written safety and ISO 9001 procedures.
  • Creating an atmosphere that promotes constant process improvement.
  • Providing accurate time, attendance, vacation, material usage and quantity completed documentation.
  • Ensuring all preventive and emergency repairs to machinery and equipment.
  • Maintaining a clean shop floor.
  • Enforcing fair and equal disciplinary practices to all production members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and or training.  Prefer Bachelor’s degree.
  • Must have good planning and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work comfortably with other departments.
  • Must have a lean manufacturing background.
  • Must have experience working and being fully responsible for a 2nd Shift.
  • Must be able to make decisive and independent decisions.
  • Experience supervising in a union environment a plus.
  • Ability to read, write and speak in English.
  • Able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical customers and internal staff.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and the ability to learn new software as required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee works in the office of a manufacturing plant environment with normal exposure to noise, dust, and hazards associated with working in a high traffic, heavy machinery, manufacturing plant. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday from 6 AM – 5 PM or 3 PM – 2AM  (may vary by area in department and shift). Job requires overtime. Work hours may change at Management's discretion with prior notice.
