Description
We are looking for Manufacturing Process Specialist in our DeKalb, IL location. 

As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting and controlling processes used in the manufacturing of glass-fused-to-steel tanks. These processes include metal preparation, CNC and Punch Press fabrication, Welding, and specifically the continual improvement of their Porcelain Enamel coating processes.  This position will be directly responsible for managing the current state and improvements for our FANUC robot used for edgecoat spray application.  This individual will be expected to identify inefficiencies in the manufacturing processes, performing root cause investigations towards eliminating them at the source wherever possible.  This Process Engineering role will be expected to support and facilitate the continued development of a Lean / Six Sigma process driven culture in our DeKalb manufacturing facility.
 
  • Lead over the coatings laboratory, specifically managing the day-to-day requirements while making recommendations for improvements in effectiveness of supplier qualifications, inbound inspections and all in-process validations used to establish control and effectiveness of our coated product.
  • Facilitate and conduct experimental analysis for steel mill and porcelain enamel vendor qualification processes.
  • Development, support and monitoring of process control procedures required to maintain and improve operations
  • Facilitate cross functional C.I. Events to include: design engineering, project management, manufacturing / process engineering and all operations teams.  Serve as project lead over disciplined involvements targeting waste and process variations while driving towards the achievement of key metrics focused on: Safety, Quality, Productivity and Customer Delivery.
  • Support the on-going enhancement of our ISO 9001 business management system
  • Support the on-going development of an improved team based culture
Required Skills / Experiences:
 
  • Bachelors degree required, preferably in Engineering, Technology or business with experience in Industrial, Mechanical or Chemical field.  A degree in Material Science, Mathematics, Economics or Business Management suitable for candidate possessing well-rounded professional experiences.
  • Fanuc Robotics and prior exposure to Allen Bradley / WAGO PLC systems a plus.  This position will be directly responsible for integration of PLC systems and management of Coating Robotic system.  Where gaps exist in training and experience the company will provide, however we are looking for a candidate with a solid foundational knowledge to build from.
  • A strong analytical aptitude with a solid working knowledge in Statistics based Quality tools: Statistical Process Control, Regression Analysis and Design of Experiments.
  • Lean / Six Sigma project based experience strongly desired: Green Belt competency level a must, Black Belt level exposure to Lean and Quality tools preferred.
  • A solid communicator capable of leading cross functional team events across all levels of the organization.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2008 desired, internal auditing experience a plus.
  • Prior experiences with porcelain enamel / epoxy based coatings a plus.
