Description
We are looking for an Project Manager in our Alfreton, Derbyshire, UK location.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:
 
To successfully manage multiple projects ensuring all contractual, financial, engineering, quality and health & safety standards are achieved.
 
KEY TASKS
 
  • Management of contracts such that they achieve or exceed predicted margins and that a high level of customer satisfaction is maintained. 
  • Ensure that customer satisfaction is achieved at all times. 
  • Support the Operations Manager as directed to execute difficult projects on time and within budget. 
  • Scrutinize contract and engineering documents and make Operations Manager aware of any onerous terms. 
  • Monitor potential technical problems and develop corrective action plans to prevent reoccurrence. 
  • Ensure that a high level of co-operation exists between all departments with any disputes or differences quickly and amicably resolved. 
  • Demonstrate a pro-active approach to project management and solution of contract issues. 
  • Always confirm in writing any comment, commitment or other issue made, particularly to customers that could have an adverse impact on the company.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of product knowledge and relevant standards applicable to the supply of the company’s products gained from company training and own study. 
  • Create appropriate project plans for each contract and use them to manage the contract and communicate the status of the project to customers and company personnel. 
  • Ability to work under pressure to achieve project deadlines. 
  • Ensure critical tasks assigned by the Operations Manager are completed on time. 
  • Ability to answer technical queries calmly and in a manner that puts the customer at ease.
 
PRIMARY RESULT AREAS
  • Ability to see a job through to completion meeting both internal and external deadlines. 
  • All contracts to be completed within customer agreed time-frame and within budget. 
  • All contracts are professionally managed using up to date methods, tools and company provided systems. 
  • All relevant information is properly recorded and filed in accordance with company procedures.

IDEAL TRAINING/KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE NECESSARY TO CARRY OUT JOB:  
  • HNC or above in relevant engineering / construction discipline or time served experience in closely related industry. 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Project. 
  • AutoCAD knowledge 
  • At least 3 years contracts/project engineering experience.
 
MENTAL SKILLS
  • Ability to organise and plan own workload and deliver to challenging timescales. 
  • Ability to identify contractual solutions and present them to both customer and company. 
  • Good verbal reasoning skills with the ability to convert ideas into tangible practical solutions. 
  • Ability to understand, analyse, organise and present numerical and technical data.

INTERACTION/SOCIAL SKILLS
  • Able to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical people. 
  • Good written communication ability, able to express ideas and information clearly and concisely and in a manner to encourage acceptance/agreement. 
  • Able to build rapport and develop sound working relationships both by phone and face-to-face.                                              
  • Able to meet people with comfort and put them at ease quickly. 
  • Good persuasion and negotiation skills. 
  • Sociable and personable style which is not abrasive to colleagues or other people. 
  • Able to demonstrate conflict management, communication and resolution.
