Description
We are looking for an Continuous Improvement / Quality Manager in our DeKalb, IL location for CST Storage.

This position will be responsible for driving a continuous improvement/quality culture inside CST Manufacturing facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive targeted, sustainable improvement in QDCI (Quality, Delivery, Cost and Innovation) that is tied to Strategic Deployment (SD) and Daily Management (DM) by leveraging lean tools, consulting skills, and the change management process.
  • Assist site / company Leadership in Champion the development of a Continuous Improvement (CI) environment including the development of a VSM and the implementation of Kaizen events (i.e., how to define improvement events and utilize lean tools to drive sustainable results improvement in results).
  • Directly provide formal and informal lean training and coaching
  • Be an active Leader in SDand Daily Management reviews (as appropriate)
  • Ensure successful kaizen events by installing and ensuring compliance to the kaizen process (includes; (1) planning of kaizens with a dynamic funnel process tied to SD and Daily Management, (2) kaizen execution and (3) sustainment of kaizens).
  • Promote and facilitate diagnosis of work flow impediments and other wastes throughout the business, and provide expert counsel on appropriate lean tools to eliminate them
  • Promote and facilitate associate development in various lean tools and kaizen leadership.
  • Lead the utilization of lean tools to improve quality throughout the facility
  • Drive systemic changes in our Quality System
  • Insure the development of quality system in accordance with our QS9001 standards
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelors Degree required, preferably in Engineering, Manufacturing or related area.
  • 3+ years experience in process engineering with a lean focus.
  • Proven process improvement and change management skills
  • Ability to champion CI and develop and install best practices across diverse business environments
  • Ability to work and influence all levels of the organization from Senior Leaders, Functional Leaders to project managers and practitioners in all functional areas
  • Effective coaching and mentoring skills
  • Ability to provide dynamic, participant-centered training
  • Strong group facilitation skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Excellent active listening skills
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams globally
  • Independence and good judgment, positive attitude, and an innovative spirit
  • Experience with Implementation and sustainment of Quality systems

  • Demonstrated proficiency applying lean principles in a variety of situations.
  • Hands-on and detail-oriented but also able to see the big picture.
  • Able to think strategically and view the business from a general management standpoint.
  • Very customer focused and has strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Quick study who can rapidly adapt to our culture and gain the confidence of CST.
  • High energy and able to handle conflict.
  • Independent worker, capable of operating in a fast-moving, ever changing environment and able toeffectively deal with difficult situations.
  • Prior management of multiple people
