Position Summary

As an Infrastructure & Operations Manager you will be required to plan, organize, and manage staff and direct all aspects of the Technology Infrastructure in support of the corporate IT organization, in accordance with overall company goals and objectives.  You will maintain control and reliability of all IT-related systems, support end users having varying technical abilities, provide outstanding customer service at all levels within the organization, while frequently multitasking.  The work requires knowledge of the policies, methods, and procedures of the field of information technology, as well as supervisory techniques that conform to personnel policies and procedures.

Duties andResponsibilities
  • Scope of Responsibility
    • Responsible for support of all systems software (database, operating systems, software utilities)
    • Consults directly with the Business Applications and Application Development groups on impact of new applications
    • Coordinates implementation of voice & data communication equipment and applications with user departments, vendors, and data centers
    • Responsible for Wide Area Network (WAN) communications stability and performance between all facilities
    • Maintains corporate-wide systems security, anti-virus, anti-intrusion systems and monitors compliance
    • Recognizes and identifies potential areas where existing policies and procedures require change, or where new ones need to be developed, especially regarding future business expansion.
    • Designs, develops, and implements a disaster recovery plan for major business applications
    • Serves as liaison between the data center and users concerning requests, usage, standards, and other developmental and production matters
    • Train end users to use applications and systems
    • Manage the procurement of hardware, software and supplies in a cost effective and efficient manner
    • Demonstrates strong commitment to staying current with IT technology via continued training, education, and learning. 
  • Evaluation of Systems, Performance, and New Services
    • Directs the investigation and analysis of computer equipment and related software
    • Performs regular IT Audits at the various locations to ensure conformity and network performance
    • Ensures appropriate metrics are being monitored and trended, thresholds have been established, alerting solutions deployed and, periodic status reports provided to stakeholders for all critical systems within their specific area of responsibility.
    • Evaluates performance reports and recommends upgrades, software changes, and replacement hardware for all facilities within the company
    • Evaluates requests for new systems software, hardware, and services and estimates the hardware requirements needed to support that software
    • Negotiates and recommends contracts with management specialists, technical personnel, and/or vendors to solve problem.
  • Projects and Workflow
    • Manages and oversees large, long range, or multiple complex projects; establishes and monitors program priorities, objectives, procedures, and resource allocation
    • Develops cost estimates, human resource requirements, work plans, time schedules, and makes work assignments to meet objectives
    • Directs the work of subordinate employees
    • Reports progress of department activities to the Chief Information Officer.

Staff Guidance, Coordination
  • Assists in selecting and assigning technical support staff
  • Directs and assists technical support staff in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and solving IT-related issues
  • Directs and assists technical support staff in the development of new IT systems and the enhancement of existing automated systems
  • Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques
  • Identifies staff development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained
  • Ensures proper labor relations and conditions of employment are maintained.

General Experience
  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of IT experience with 5 years’ experience in a management position including several direct reports.

Administrative / Supervisory Skills, Experience
  • Good communicator and team builder who can sell an organization on a new concept and build consensus
  • Strong project management skills and experience
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work with people in a problem solving capacity
  • Ability to conduct training and informational sessions and to maintain favorable public relations
  • Thorough knowledge of supervisory and training techniques, employee policy and procedures, and equal employment practices
  • Ability to gather and analyze facts, draw conclusions, define problems, and suggest solutions
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is desired.

Technical Qualifications, Experience
  • Proficient working knowledge of the Microsoft Windows Technologies and Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience configuring, implementing, administering, and troubleshooting distributed Windows environments
  • Experience in managing Cisco Routers in an MPLS network infrastructure
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Active Directory & Exchange
  • Experience in administering SQL database or Oracle database
  • Knowledge and understanding of advanced concepts and basic operating principles of data communications and information systems hardware and software.

Certifications Desired
  • Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA)
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or equivalent.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or related field
  • Master’s degree is highly desirable.
